Sport England aims to support at least 2000 sports clubs through its clubmark scheme. The scheme ensures that these clubs provide a high quality experience for young people, with the aim of encouraging them to take up a sport and improve their sporting talents. Newark Rowing Club subscribes to the accreditation criteria set out by Sport England by providing safe, effective and child friendly facilities.

Newark Rowing Club is pleasantly situated on the Farndon Road at the South side of the River Devon opposite Newark Marina.

The Club is affiliated to the Amateur Rowing Association. There are 24 divisions in the ARA into which all clubs are placed. Newark comes under The East Midlands Region. Take a look at the ARA website to view the ARA Structure.

Interest in rowing has increased considerably in recent years to become one of the country's most successful international sports. Newark has supplied the Great Britain Junior Team with successful scullers in recent years - both girls and boys.

	build up a network of friends - especially for juniors who compete and are hoping to go to university

Beginners can start on the quiet waters of the River Devon before moving out onto the River Trent where there is approximately six miles of uninterrupted water to train on. During certain months of the year, beginnners can also scull up river on the Devon through the countryside. It is narrow and has lots of bends but you'll learn to steer and the water is very calm.

Structured training are provided for Junior Members by coaches holding at least The Amateur Rowing Association Instructor Award - our juniors have enjoyed successes at both local & regional levels and in recent years, International level competing for Great Britain. New Juniors can try it out for a few sessions before deciding whether or not to join.

New senior members are always welcome. Contact us by Email or drop in when club training is taking place (e.g. Sunday morning 9.15am-11.30am). You may prefer to phone our club captain, Steve Collins (07773 336 874) to make an appointment, when we can give time to show you around the club. You must be able to swim 100 metres in light clothing. We can arrange for a coach / competant crew to take you on an outing on the river or time permitting, arrange for coaching from beginner level.

A safety launch accompanies junior rowers at all times.The Club has a Safety Officer and the Amateur Rowing Club approved water safety code is adhered to. A safety document, agreed at club level, serves to provide additional local knowledge of hazards. As a member, you will be advised to study this document, a copy of which can be obtained from the Safety Officer.
